The most unusual visionary art gallery in the heart of Pisa
In the heart of Pisa, there is a space that is difficult to describe as simply a contemporary art gallery.
AORTA Social Art Gallery is a new kind of Black Cube — a space of the collective unconscious, visionary art, and altered perception.
The gallery brings together contemporary art, immersive technologies, VR/AR/XR, and an environment in which the viewer becomes part of the experience itself. Traces left by visitors — drawings, phrases, reactions — gradually transform the space into a living map of the collective unconscious.
Visit AORTA in Pisa
We are located at Corso Italia 146, in the very center of Pisa. AORTA is a place for those who are looking in Pisa not only for landmarks, but also for experiences that shift perception.
Open daily from 11:00 to 13:00 and from 15:00 to 21:00.
Closed on Mondays.
Virtual Reality Art Experiences
At AORTA, virtual and extended reality do not exist separately from art — they become a continuation of the artistic space itself.
During exhibitions, visitors can step inside artworks, interact with virtual environments, discover hidden layers of the pieces, and create their own visual traces within VR/XR spaces. These experiences are always part of the curatorial vision — an attempt to approach the inner world of the artist and experience art as a state of perception.
VR/XR experiences are available in the gallery through special sessions with limited capacity. Please book your tickets in advance.
Black Cube
People write on our walls with chalk. During exhibitions, the black walls of the gallery gradually become covered with drawings, phrases, symbols, and spontaneous reactions from visitors. These traces become part of the living layer of the exhibition — a kind of imprint of the collective unconscious emerging within the space.
If visitors wish, these drawings can later be transferred onto AORTA merchandise — T-shirts and objects. In this way, visitors can literally take a fragment of the space with them.
Virtual Exhibitions
Some AORTA exhibitions are available online.
You can visit them from anywhere in the world, without leaving home, in a specially designed virtual space that fully recreates the AORTA gallery experience.
